Whim Milestones

1 Impressive near alliteration within the song Under My Blue Moon; with 'moonlight look at love'. That's 16 points for those of you keeping score at home. It would have been more had 'moon' been hyphenated and if the unfortunate 'at' not been needed. Pity.

2 Meeting Her Elvis contains the first use of the word "hell" in a Terry Sampson song.
We've applied for a Parent Advisory Sticker. No word on that yet.

3 The As Love Would Have You chorus begins with a diminished chord, and it could be a first for a chorus. Our staff is researching. It's an A diminished chord, without the flat 5, as you know.

4 When I Fall For You, is home to a rare triple alliteration baseball reference with the line 'Did Dizzy Dean'. Normally that's 24 points, but Diz was from the cooler 50's nickname era, when they didn't make any money and just loved baseball, so it's scored 37 points. I've spoken to Cooperstown, they don't care. Pity.

5 The hippest solo run ends in an unprecedented tie. The nod goes to guitarist Michael Cuneo for his note flurry at the very end of Meeting Her Elvis, and saxophonist Brian Scanlon for his tasty run up en route to the third chorus in As Love Would Have You. As usual all the nominees are "winners".

6 Sorry to say 10 points deducted when a kiss - bliss rhyme was used in It's Just Talk. The songwriter in question can still hold his head up high, however, because he tastefully chose not to use the dreaded arms - charms rhyme anywhere else. Better luck next time, punk.

7 A petition was circulated among the performing musicians on Whim demanding that the producer be banned from using the phrase, 'OK, this time with feeling...' after inspired performances. Said producer responded through his attorney saying he was "trying to be funny." The petition specifically stated that trying was not enough.

8 Ironically, the microphone picture on the cover, the late forties - early fifties AKG D25 dynamic was not used in recording anything on Whim. Its younger sibling, the AKG D35 (mid-1950's) and it's pattern selectable double capsule was utilized on bass drum.

9 Though only one person was credited as recording engineer on Whim, it is on good authority that a then 10-year-old girl who shares several genetic traits with said engineer, performed engineering duties on more than one occasion, that went un-credited and worst yet, unpaid. Until the dispute is settled, the girl has suggested the engineer "sleep with one eye open."
Golly, they're cute at that age.

10 Citing the 10 run rule in little league, officials have suggested that the Whim CD cannot be considered finished until a tenth song is completed. We are appealing this decision, hoping that they could be lenient with the "mercy" rule.

11 As usual, no animals were hurt, nor ukuleles used in the recording of Whim.
